After dropping the three-game series opener against the visiting Beloit Snappers (14-12) on Monday, the West Michigan Whitecaps (12-12) sent righthander Sandy Baez (0-3, 4.08 ERA) to the hill to work the evening. Baez maneuvered 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing three runs off eight hits, including a solo shot to straightaway centerfield in the second inning to Beloit's Chris Iriart.

At the plate, West Michigan provided offensive support for Baez, led by second baseman Will Maddox and outfielder Rashad Brown. Named Midwest League Player of the Week last week, Maddox finished 3-for-4 with an RBI; his fourth three-hit game this season. Following suit, Brown added a pair of hits and a run scored, giving West Michigan what they needed to power beyond the visiting Snappers.

Wrapping the night, West Michigan righty Jake Shull remained perfect in save opportunities, snagging his third save on the year with the final inning of the night.

Final: West Michigan Whitecaps 6, Beloit Snappers 3

Coming up next: West Michigan will look to righthander Jordan Smith (2-0, 3.38 ERA) in the series finale with righty Angel Duno (2-1, 1.96 ERA) and the Snappers in an afternoon outing scheduled for 3:00 pm at Fifth Third Ballpark.
