After taking the series opener from the Peoria Chiefs (54-43) on Wednesday at Fifth Third Ballpark, The West Michigan Whitecaps (51-41) looked to ride the momentum into Thursday in hopes of taking a two-game series lead.

Going 1-1 in his last two starts, 21-year-old West Michigan lefty Eudis Idrogo (3-3, 5.70 ERA) got the nod for the 'Caps, submitting a 5 2/3 inning stretch, matching a season-high five strikeouts while allowing three runs off seven hits in his 89-pitch campaign. Prior to an RBI single from Leobaldo Pena, Idrogo successfully held the Chiefs through the opening three innings.

At the plate, West Michigan capitalized on a red hot four-run third inning to take command and maintained that command the remainder of the evening. Whitecaps third baseman Brett Pirtle posted a three-hit night for West Michigan, his first trio of hits in a single outing since July 13. A double from Will Allen and a triple from Jose Azocar contributed to a 12-hit evening for West Michigan.

Right-hander Ryan Milton (0-0, 1.46 ERA) entered to work the final 1 1/3 innings for the Whitecaps, moving to 2-of-2 in save opportunities on the year, lifting Eudis Idrogo to his third win in a Whitecaps uniform this season.

Final: West Michigan Whitecaps 6, Peoria Chiefs 4

Coming up next: West Michigan will look to lock in the sweep on Friday evening, sending right-hander Beau Burrows (5-4, 3.70 ERA) to the hill to face Peoria righty Derian Gonzalez (4-0, 2.77 ERA)
